One charged, another on the run after violent Midland home invasion

CCTV images released by WA police have revealed the terrifying moment a 62-year-old Midland homeowner was repeatedly hit with a shovel by two men who attempted to break into his home.

Police have charged one man and are hunting another in relation to the April 29 event, which happened at around 3am on Dudley Street.

The 62-year-old homeowner found two men trying to break into his house  and when he confronted them he was hit several times with a shovel.

The two men robbed the house before fleeing the scene, and the victim was left with numerous cuts to his arm and head.

He was rushed to St John of God Hospital in Midland where he was treated.

A 28-year-old Rivervale man has been charged in relation to the incident, but another man is still on the run.
