Suzy Cato has been eliminated.
REVIEW: Amid shocked gasps and sobs, Suzy Cato has been sent home from Dancing With The Stars.
In a result that defies all reason, excellent dancer Cato was forced to faced off against similarly powerful performer Shav Ruakere in the Monday night dance off.
Ruakere and partner Enrique Johns danced a stunning, spirited Salsa that showed flare, skill and a truck load of sass. Cato turned in a strong Samba despite seeming rattled by the news she'd be in the dance off.
Suzy Cato performs a cha-cha with dance partner Matt on Dancing with the Stars.
That left an unenviable decision for judges Sacre-Dallerup, Julz Tocker and Rachel White, who again, couldn't reach a consensus.
"It's so upsetting that we're here," said a tearful White, who chose Cato.
Julz stammered towards his choice of Ruakere. Leaving - SURPRISE! - Camilla to cast a tearful deciding vote.
She went with Shav.
Ruakere joins Jess Quinn, Sam Hayes, Roger Farelly, Chris Harris and yes, David Seymour, in the competition next week.
Harris and Hayes were the only couple to dance on Monday night.
The judges raved over Harris' Samba. "You are becoming quite the ladies man," said Rachel, which is apparently still a compliment in Ballroom.
He was back at the top of the leader's board with 25 points from the judges.
He was followed by Sam Hayes, who said all the practicing was leaving her healthy and fitter, dancing a very fiery Paso Doble that Julz called "hot and steamy".
"Throughout the whole routine all the light and shade was so well done... you are proving to be a true Passionista," said Rachel.
She al so got 25 points, making her first-equal with Chris Harris.
Move of the week went to David Seymour's stomach turning twerk.
HIT
The Brazilian Divas! They look so cool, I'd like a whole show about them and their stunning head pieces and incredibly risque outfits.
MISS
I feel like they should re-cut the intro clip as seeing Gilda, Naz, Marama and Robbie still in the line up gives the show way more cool cred' than it deserves.
Every time I see Marama I miss her on the show more. It's cruel.
HIT
Chris Harris' yellow satin shirt was a thing of beauty. There are only five people on earth at anyone time who can rock that colour convincingly. I have to say, it makes me proud to be a Kiwi that one of them is our own Harris.
It was joyful and triumphant, to match what was a pretty joyful and triumphant Samba - a notoriously tough dance for non-dancers to master in just a few lessons. His batucacas were so bouncy!
"You just transported us all to the carnival in Rio!" said Camilla.
MISS
Why would you dress Sam Hayes in the evening wear equivalent of a box of Cadbury's roses chocolates?
What's the rationale behind that choice? It's like someone cut up packet of gold foil doilies from the 2 dollar shop and pasted them together with some plastic roses and an old Christmas tablecloth - job done.
Terrible.
HIT
Suzy Cato. For obvious reasons. What a warm, beautiful (inside and out) wonderful woman. Thank you for everything. You deserved so much better than this.
MISS
The few seconds the replayed from Rog Farrelly and David Seymour's Sunday night dances. My poor eyes.
If there was ever an effective argument against cultural appropriation it's surely the image that's now seared into my mind for all time of those two twerking.
Comedy hour is over, chuckleheads. It's time to go home and let the big kids get the job done.
Dancing With The Stars returns on Sunday, June 17 at 7pm on Three.
