Stepping up surveillance is a top priority, says Mayor

Mayor Koneru Sreedhar has appealed to the residents to install CCTV cameras in all colonies as a measure to give the security a boost and prevent crimes.

Participating at the CCTV camera launching programme in Maruthi Colony in the 9th division in the city on Sunday, Mr. Sreedhar said that the government was laying CC roads and beautifying the colonies, and asked the locals to step up vigil by arranging surveillance cameras. JCP T.K. Rana and DCP Ghajarao Bhupal, who attended the programme, explained how the CCTV cameras would help prevent and detect thefts, chain-snatchings, robberies and other offences. “We are detecting many cases by examining the CCTV footage. Residents and apartment associations of many areas have installed CCTVs and the crime rate has also come down,” Mr. Rana said.

Locked House Monitoring System

DCP (Crimes) Sk. Shireen Begum gave a presentation on the functioning of Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) which helps monitor the break-in cases when the inmates were away. Maruti Colony Association president Jayaraju, Additional DCP K.B. Venkateswara Rao, ACP N. Satyanandam were present.
