New Milford holds government workshops
Published 4:22 pm, Monday, June 11, 2018
A three-part series on the state statutes, New Milford’s town charter and other regulations that factor into how the government operates begins Wednesday.
The workshops will be led by Town Attorney Matt Grimes. They’ll start at 7 p.m. and last 45 to 60 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Questions can be submitted in advance, as well as suggestions on future topics, by emailing mayor@newmilford.org or physical copies can be brought or mailed to the mayor’s office directly.
The first class is about state statutes that govern municipalities and will be at 25 Church Street.
The second will be about the town meeting form of government on June 27 and the last will be about how state and local laws tie into the town’s government. Both will be in the E. Paul Martin Room in Town Hall.
Mayor Pete Bass said he started the series after receiving requests from residents for classes on the inner workings of government.
