Your editorial dated May 24, “Stepping up effort on minority teachers,” is balderdash!

Your premise that white teachers do not teach the same way as teachers of color is ridiculous. Individuals white or individuals of color go into teaching with the thought of teaching all children the same and thinking that children learn better from a teacher of their color is absurd.

I believe we are not attracting individuals of color to enter the teaching field because they make a much better living outside of teaching. Stop crying about the poor wages of teachers and maybe we would attract people of color to the teaching field.

I know I struggled to get my college diploma and the last thing I wanted to go into was the teaching field. I made a lot more salary in the outside world. And that’s why I believe you can’t attract people of color to the teaching profession.
