Dr. Neil Anthony Capretto Beaver Dr. Neil Anthony Capretto, 62, of Beaver, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Born August 18, 1955, he was a son of the late Neil and Gloria Capretto. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, Neil served as the Medical Director of Gateway Rehabilitation Center. A graduate of Kiski Area High School, and Allegheny College, where he excelled in both football and track, he graduated in 1981 from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and served his residency in Psychiatry at St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh. In 1985, he became a full-time staff psychiatrist at the Community Mental Health Center, Beaver County, and joined the staff of the Medical Center, Beaver. Neil joined the Gateway Rehabilitation staff in 1986 and became Medical Director in 1996. He was named the first Medical Director of Psychiatry in 1989 to the Medical Center, Beaver, when they opened the psychiatric unit. Dr. Capretto was board certified in both General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and board certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He was active in numerous professional committees, including both the Allegheny and Beaver Counties of Overdose Prevention Coalition, and was a proud member of the ASAM, American Society of Addiction Medicine. Neil loved sports and was an avid golfer. A supporter of Allegheny College, he served as VP of Friends of Allegheny. His greatest passion was his family; he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved to eat out and travel with his wife. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Amy Friel Capretto; two sons, Andrew (Jessica) Capretto, Peters Twp., and Peter (Jessica) Capretto, Nashville, Tenn.; his twin sister, Audrey (Dave) Miller, Vandergrift; two granddaughters, Eliana and Adeline Capretto; his wife's family including a mother-in-law, Judith Brandt, Shaler; a brother-in-law, Kevin (Mary Jane) Friel, Millvale; a sister-in-law, Mary (Blaine) DiCenzo, Gibsonia; and his godson and nephew, Ethan DiCenzo. Neil also leaves behind his cherished cats, Gypsy and Rascal, as well as many beloved friends and colleagues. Friends will be received Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, by his pastor, the Reverend Jeff Arnold. Private interment will take place at the Beaver Cemetery.
