The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) said on Monday 79.86% students were successful in the Class 10 board examination, a slight improvement over the last year’s results.

It was a photo finish between boys and girls.

Girls with a pass percentage of 79.95 beat boys by a marginal edge of 0.16 points. The pass percentage of boys was 79.79. However, more boys passed in the first division as compared to girls.

With a pass percentage of 83.31, students of private school remained ahead of their counterparts in government-run schools where 77.02% candidates passed the exam.

State education minister Vasudev Devnani said government schools improved their results.

“An improvement in pass percentage in government school by over 1% over the last year is a testimony to that,” said Devnani.

Last year, the pass percentage in government school was 76.04, he added.

This year, 10,81,688 students registered for the exam out of which 10,58,018 students appeared for the Class 10 exam from March 7 to April 4. There were 30, 6732 students, including 16,8925 boys and 137,807 girls, who got the first division.

The board also declared the results of Praveshika, the Class 10 equivalent in Sanskrit, and 62.51% students passed. There were 7,041 students who registered for the exam and 4,290 students cleared it.
