Modi is only serving the corporate world and rich businessmen, alleges D. Raja

Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjuna Kharge, alleged that the Modi government is trying to change the Constitution with the backing of the RSS.

Ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, there has been a steady rise in atrocities against dalits, tribals and women across the country. “In the last four years, there is 66% rise in attacks on dalits, tribals and women,” he said.

The country is witnessed very tough days and every day dalits are being killed and women attacked, he alleged. The Supreme Court advisory to the Centre on SC and ST Atrocities Act is unwelcome. The Modi government is silent on it and efforts are being made to dilute the legislation. The dalits and tribals should stay united and fight against the forces trying to weaken the Constitution, he said.

The Congress leader was addressing a public meeting ‘Dalita Girijana Simhagarjana’ organised by the MRPS and other peoples’ organizations here on Sunday. Speakers appreciated Manda Krishna for organising the event.

CPI leader D. Raja said the Modi government undermined the Forest Act and Right to Food Act. “This BJP government is undermining the very Constitution. Dalits and tribals should fight against it,” he said.

Mr. Modi claims to be servant of people but in reality, he is only serving the corporate world and rich businessmen, he said.

CPI general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy called for unity among the dalits and tribals and described the Supreme Court observations as unfortunate.

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, J. Geetha Reddy, L Ramana (TDP) and leaders of various parties and peoples’ organisations were present.
