Day after rains, mercury hovers near normal temp in Pb, Haryana

A day after rains lashed several places in Punjab and Haryana, the maximum temperatures hovered close to normal limits at many places in the two states on Sunday.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded maximum temperature at 37.2 degrees Celsius, down two notches against normal limits.

In Punjab, holy city of Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius, down two notches against normal limit. Ludhiana and Patiala recorded respective below normal maximums of 37.5 degrees Celsius and 37.8 degrees Celsius.

In neighboring Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 37.3 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal limits, while Bhiwani's maximum settled at 36.7 degrees Celsius. Hisar settled at 38 degrees Celsius, Karnal recorded a high of 37.5 degree Celsius and Narnaul recorded 39.5 degree Celsius.

According to the Met Department forecast, thunderstorm with gusty winds is likely at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.
