Hyundai India: 80 lakh cars produced

Hyundai India has produced 80 lakh cars at its assembly plant near Chennai - a new production milestone. The 80 lakhth unit was a 2018 Creta.

In the last 20 years, Hyundai has sold over 53,00,967 units in the Indian market and has exported 27,03,581 units globally. The company crossed the 10 lakh mark in 2006, 7 years and 6 months after production first began by making a Santro. The 20 lakh mark was crossed in 2008, while 2010 saw the 30 lakhth car roll off followed by the 40 lakhth in 2012. In 2013, Hyundai reached the 50 lakh milestone and the 60 lakh in 2015 with 70 lakh units coming up a year later.

Hyundai currently offers 9 models in India. These include hatchbacks like the Eon, Grand i10, Elite i20 and i20 Active, Xcent compact sedan, Verna, Elantra and SUVs like the Creta and Tucson. The carmaker plans to launch the next-gen Santro later this year.
