Panchkula crime investigation agency (
CIA) on Monday produced
Sampat Nehra, one of the most wanted gangsters in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and a close aide of another
dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in the district court, Sector-1, Panchkula. The court remanded Nehra, who was brought under heavy police security, in seven-day police remand for his alleged involvement in two criminal cases in Panchkula.
The accused was booked in 2017 by Panchkula police for opening fire at a police team and freeing his gang member Deepak from police custody in Panchkula civil hospital, Sector-6.
The same year, Nehra was booked for opening fire at a hookah bar located near Morni in Panchkula.
Nehra is also allegedly involved in a number of criminal cases in Chandigarh and Mohali, including demanding ransom of Rs 3 crore from Ashwani Kumar, owner of Kumar medical stores in Chandigarh.
According to police officers, Nehra was involved in threatening and shooting at Punjabi singer Parmish Verma in April this year.
Nehra was also allegedly involved in the killing of Kamaljeet, a resident of Banur, Punjab.
The dreaded gangster was also behind threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan during the actor’s hearing in a local court of Jodhpur in black buck case.
A team of Haryana Special Task Force (STF) had recently revealed that the gangster had done a recce of Salman Khan’s house in Mumbai.
Gangster Nehra was arrested by the Haryana STF team from his hideout in Hyderabad on Wednesday night where he was living as a paying guest (PG) along two local students. The gangster was brought to Panchkula on Sunday night and his medical was conducted in in Panchkula civil hospital, Sector-6 by the cops.
STF DIG Satish Balan revealed that Nehra had been changing cities frequently for the last three months.
He spent some time in Korba and Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, and then in Delhi and Rajasthan (his home state). In the first week of May, he went to Mumbai from Bilaspur. From Mumbai, he went to Hyderabad, said a senior police officer.
STF Superintendent of Police (SP) Haryana Ashwin Shenvi said, “Nehra has several cases on him, including 12 murders, 6 of attempt to murder, two extortions, five dacoities and robberies. He was actively involved in contract killing as well”.
Nehra, 28, a native of Kalauri village in Churu district of Rajasthan, had studied in Chandigarh, where his father was a cop.
