PATNA: The RJD’s first family presented a show of unity on Lalu Prasad’s 71st birthday on Monday amid reports of rift in the party.
Although Lalu didn’t make any public appearance due to restrictions specified in his provisional bail order, his sons — Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav — and wife
Rabri Devi together cut a 71-pound cake at 5, Deshratn Marg bungalow, in
Patna. The bungalow was allotted to Tejashwi, who is opposition leader in the
Bihar assembly.
Lalu was sent to jail in Ranchi on December 13 last year following his conviction in fodder scam cases. He was granted bail for six weeks on medical grounds on May 17.
Hundreds of RJD supporters, including party’s state president Ram Chandra Purbey, cheered as Rabri Devi cut the green-colour cake. Tej Pratap and Tejashwi, standing on either side of their mother, offered cake to each other.
