The Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s decision to continue its understanding with the Congress in Bengal is causing “damage” to the Left Front, the State leadership of the Communist Party of India (CPI), a key Left Front ally, said.
“Since the Left Front’s dismal performance in the 2016 elections to the Maheshtala Assembly by-election, the Left Front has suffered due to the CPI(M)’s decision to continue its understanding with the Congress,” CPI State secretary Swapan Banerjee said on Sunday.
Mr. Banerjee was speaking to journalists after the conclusion of the two-day-long State Council meeting of the party in Kolkata.
