Shaqiri deal close
Liverpool are closing in on Xherdan Shaqiri after missing out on Nabil Fekir.
Lyon playmaker Fekir underwent his Reds medical on Friday, with personal terms already agreed with the player.
However, a recurring knee injury resulted in Liverpool pulling the plug on the deal.
Lyon claim it was them who ended the transfer, however, reports suggest the contrary.
And according to ESPN, Jurgen Klopp is ready to sign Stoke star Shaqiri as an alternative to Fekir.
They say Reds officials met with Shaqiri’s brother and agent last Friday to discuss a move to Anfield.
Shaqiri, 26, is available for around £12m this summer due to a relegation clause in the winger’s contract.

Loan star
Manchester United youngster Kieran O'Hara wants to go out on loan next season.
“Hopefully, I will go out on loan to gain some valuable experience that way,” he told manutd.com.
“Clearly, it’s down to the coaching staff and the [Under-23s] manager. Ricky [Sbragia], Nicky Butt and, obviously, the manager will decide what they think is best for me and my development.
“But, like I say, next season, I think I’ll be ready to go out on loan to gain valuable experience in the league and really kick on.”
Liverpool make Fekir decision
Liverpool are unlikely to go back in for Nabil Fekir after the transfer collapsed this weekend and will concentrate on other options to add to their attacking unit this summer.
Liverpool thought they had a deal for Fekir in the bag after agreeing financial terms and setting up a medical.
But confusion remains around the deal collapsing following the medical at Clairefontaine.
Lyon released a statement claiming Fekir would stay at the club after the deal had fallen through, and Liverpool will now turn to their alternative targets.
The Liverpool Echo report that the Reds are unlikely to make another move for Fekir and will instead move on.
Their alternative targets include Thomas Lemar, Ousmane Dembele and Julian Draxler.
Mario Gotze has also revealed he has an option to work under Jurgen Klopp again.

Alisson wants quick decision
Alisson wants his future sorted before the World Cup.
The Roma goalkeeper is on Liverpool and Real Madrid’s radar and is likely to leave Serie A this season.
And he is hoping for a speedy decision.
“What I want is for it to be resolved before the World Cup. To be honest, I left the responsibility of all of the negotiations with my representative. If it is not resolved before the first match, it will only be after the World Cup. My thoughts are 100% here,” he is quoted as saying in AS.
“Offers? We have some possibilities, we are working on all of them, alongside Roma, respecting the club. Let’s see if something during happens this week.”
Arnautovic on his future
Marko Arnautovic admits he has not been in touch with West Ham over his future.
The Austria ace is wanted by Manchester United but admits he is in the dark.
West Ham are hoping to keep the forward at the London Stadium with Manuel Pellegrini taking over last month.
“I am happy with my job. Whatever happens will happen. I’ve never heard anything,” Arnautovic told Sky Austria.
“Even three weeks ago I haven’t heard anything. That’s why I cannot say anything about it.”

Salah quit threat
Mohamed Salah has sensationally threatened to quit Anfield this summer, reports in Spain claim.
The Egypt international had a stunning season under Jurgen Klopp, with the former Chelsea ace netting 44 goals in all competitions.
Salah, 25, has been tipped to quit Anfield this summer, despite only joining Liverpool last year.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be leading the race for the winger, who guided the Reds to the Champions League final this season.
And according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Salah is furious with Liverpool for pulling out of the deal to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir.
Salah felt Fekir would have been the prefect addition to Klopp's side, however, the Reds pulled the plug on the deal after discovering the France star’s history with a recurring knee injury.
Don Balon add that Salah has given Liverpool an ultimatum - buy an attacking midfielder this summer, or he’ll join Real or Barca.
Hazard and Courtois to leave?
Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are right not to commit their futures to the club, claims former Blues midfielder Craig Burley.
Hazard’s current Chelsea contract is up in 2020, whereas Courtois sees his deal expire next summer.
So Burley can understand exactly why the likes of Hazard and Courtois are not desperate to put pen to paper.
“This is a comedy at the moment isn’t it,” Burley said on ESPN FC.
“It’s an even bigger comedy when you see Avram Grant’s name at 16/1.
“That tells you how comedic this is. I think he’s had the ear of the owner before.
“It’s just a mess and it’s a real worry for Chelsea fans.
“Not only that, but the fact they’re in the Europa League next year, the fact that the money doesn’t seem to be there to spend on players anymore, the fact that there is a mess around the stadium, senior players may go.
“Why the hell would Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard and players like that commit anything to a club whose owner doesn’t know what direction he wants the club to go in at the moment?
“So the worry is that they’re going to lose key players, they’re not going to have the same money to spend.
“Meanwhile, the big boys at the top of the Premier League are out there spending and looking to push themselves further away.”

Toure to West Ham?
Yaya Toure will leave the club at the end of his contract - so will he be joining West Ham?
Former Arsenal midfielder turned broadcaster Adrian Clarke certainly thinks so.
Toure’s future was discussed on talkSPORT this morning, with Clarke alongside another ex-Arsenal player in Ray Parlour.
Parlour asked his former team-mate on Toure: “Where does he go from here? Where will he go?”
And Clarke reckons the Ivorian is set for a move to the London Stadium.
“He’s going to West Ham isn’t he?” Clarke said.
Hammers midfielder Manuel Lanzini has suffered a serious knee injury during training with Argentina ahead of the World Cup, which starts this week.
So Clarke thinks Toure would be a good short-term replacement for the 25-year-old.
“It would be interesting if he does turn up at West Ham,” he added.
“I think he has got something to offer.
“I don’t think that should be West Ham’s policy for transfers this year, I think they need to go for younger players, hungry players on the rise.
“But Yaya Toure, he might be the type of player that can inspire West Ham, especially with no Lanzini of course now.
“They need someone who can unlock the door because Lanzini is out for the season.”

Arsenal land second signing
Arsenal are closing in on a deal for their second signing of the summer with talks progressing for Caglar Soyuncu.
Soyuncu will follow Stephan Lichtsteiner through the door at the Emirates and become Unai Emery’s second signing.
The 22-year-old centre-back is said to be closing in on a £35m deal.
His agent Mustafa Dogru told Turkish Football: “Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund.
“He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains if for a free to be agreed. We will see what happens next.”
Fekir picked his shirt number
Nabil Fekir has chosen his squad number at Liverpool before his transfer collapsed over the weekend.
Fekir was set to join Liverpool in a deal worth £60m.
Issues with the medical sent the deal into doubt before Lyon pulled the plug.
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool were so convinced they had the France international in signed up they allowed him to pick a shirt number and he had already conducted in house interviews for the club website.

French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet insists the medical is not an issue.
He told Le Progres: “I saw Nabil this morning for a quarter of an hour. He is a boy who is down to earth.
“It is being negotiated and I think it will be done.
“This does not prevent him from being very concerned by the France team. He has a very good state of mind.
“It would be better for him if his transfer was recorded before the departure for Russia, but he did not seem disturbed to me.
“I felt optimistic about it because the medical visit he had was positive.
“In a transfer, it's always like that. Each one tries to impose its price, to lower it, or to increase it.”
Bale delay
Gareth Bale is delaying a decision on his future until Real Madrid have appointed a new manager.
Manchester United are monitoring his situation but face an anxious wait util Madrid appoint Zinedine Zidane’s replacement.
Bale hinted he could leave this summer after his Champions League double.
But Zidane’s departure has thrown the situation into doubt.
