Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s upcoming film Velvet Nagaram’s motion poster was launched by Vijay Sethupathi on Monday. In the motion poster, we see Varalaxmi’s face beautifully decorated with neon make-up, which is reminiscent of Na’vi people in James Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar.

Vijay Sethupathi wrote, “Congrats Team #VelvetNagaram First Look Poster @d_MakersStudio @varusarath @makkastudios @thilak_Ramesh @manojknatarajan @achurajamani @arunfeb25 https://t.co/WPr4erF6Rd.”

She shared the poster on her Twitter handle and wrote, “Thank @VijaySethuOffi for launching my poster.. here u go guys... so excited.. hope u like it #Velvetnagaram @manojknatarajan all the best ma.!! watch the motion poster and ensoiiiii.!!!! Wooohoooooo.!!! @makkastudios @d_MakersStudio.”

The film is directed by Manoj Kumar and produced by Makers Studio. Speculation suggests the film is based on real life incidents that occurred in Kodaikanal eight years ago and the actor plays the role of a journalist. Manoj, in an interview to Deccan Chronicle, said, “The story revolves around the heroine. Varalaxmi portrays the central character who comes to the city to investigate the atrocities meted out to Adivasis belonging to Kodaikanal. The subsequent predicament she faces and how intelligently the truth is revealed form the crux.”

The music for the film is composed by Achu Rajamani.

Other than this, she is busy with three other big ticket films. She will essay a pivotal role in Dhanush’s Maari 2, directed by Balaji Mohan and Vijay’s Thalapathy 62 helmed by AR Murugadoss.
