PAAS leader Alpesh Kathiriya attacked

Surat: Surat Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Alpesh Kathiriya, was allegedly attacked by five persons outside his residence in Nana Varachha on Monday evening. Kathiriya, who sustained minor injuries, lodged complaint of assault at Kapodra police station.
The incident occurred at Kathiriya’s residence at around 7pm. Some people asked him to come out of house over phone to discuss some issue. When Kathirya came out, a group of men who have come in a SUV were waiting for him. During discussion, the accused first punched Kathiriya on the face using some weapon and later when Kathirya tried to escape from the spot, the accused attacked him with a knife. Kathiriya was sustained injuries on his lower back.

“The accused are known to us. They had some dispute with Kathiriya’s younger brother. We are giving the details to police,” PAAS convener Dharmik Malaviya told TOI.

Meanwhile, a group of PAAS supporters gathered outside Kapodra police station when Kathiriya reached there to register his complaint. The group of supporters blocked the road outside the police station for a while. Some supporters also allegedly pelted stones on a GSRTC bus and damaged its windows.
