Jamshedpur student tops JEE Advanced exam in State, scores AIR 60

Quite a number of students of Jamshedpur proved their mettle in the IIT- JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced-2018 examination. As many as 200 students from Steel City cracked the prestigious JEE Advanced, the results of which were announced on Sunday.

Aayush Agarwal (18), a student of DBMS English School emerged as the State topper with an all-India rank (AIR) 60. Out of 854 students who appeared for JEE Advanced -- the gateway to IITs from Jamshedpur this year, around 200 made it to the final all India rankings merit list. 

A resident of Dimna Road in Mango, Aayush said, “I am really very happy as my hard efforts have brought fruitful results.  I am keeping my fingers crossed to take admission in computer science at IIT-Bombay.” Aayush who scored 283 of 360 in JEE Advanced had earlier got 97th rank in the JEE Mains conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Meanwhile, continuing its rich legacy on academic facade, a student of Delhi Public School Ranchi Shaan-Ul-Haque topped in State Capital securing AIR 111. “Calculated hard work with meticulous planning, no short cuts in the preparations and the clarity of concepts in all subjects are the main reasons behind my success. I am great full to all those people who supported me. I was hopeful of getting good rank but will become the city topper; I was not very sure about it. I want to pursue Computer Science Engineering (CSE),” said proud Shaan-Ul-Haque.

More than 50 students of DPS Ranchi dominated the JEE Advanced-2018 merit list, this year. Three students who have secured ranks within 500 are Shaan-Ul-Haque (AIR- 111), Prateek Parawar (AIR- 152) and Aman Kumar Singh (AIR- 478).

Dr. Ram Singh, Principal of DPS Ranchi congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of teachers and parents for this great achievement. “It is indeed a matter of immense pride for the school that several students have qualified one of the prestigious examinations,” said Singh.

Furthermore, a student of Jamshedpur Public School, Baridih, Rahul Kumar Tiwary scored AIR 122. He was the State topper with an all-India rank 22 in the JEE Mains. Rahul scored 268 out of 360. “I was hopeful to be among the top 50,” said the 17-year-old Rahul. He expressed happiness over his performance. He is aiming to study electrical engineering from IIT-Bombay.

Besides, Ranchi and Jamshedpur, Bokaro students as well left their mark in the most coveted engineering test. Rishav Ranjan, a student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya stole the show by becoming the district topper with All India Rank 154 while Aryan and Anmol Harsh student of DPS Bokaro secured 821 and 989 All India Rank (AIR) respectively in general category.

While in reserved category students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Sourish Mandal scored 308, Manish 645 and Raghvendra Dey 960 AIR. Thus, six students from Bokaro have made it in top ‘1000 AIR’. Dr Ashok Singh Principal of Chinmaya Vidyalaya and Dr. Hemlata S Mohan, Director and Principal of DPS Bokaro expressed immense happiness on this achievement of the students and congratulated them.

In addition, experts too appeared satisfied with the overall results. Pramod Dubey, director of Prerna Classes said that he is satisfied with the overall result but he was expecting much better numbers. “We are happy with the overall performance. The trend was a bit different and easy going this time,” said Dubey. The JEE Main 2018 offline exam was held on April 8 whereas the online exam was conducted on April 15 and April 16.
