NOIDA: At least four persons attacked a guard manning the store room abutting a PVNNL substation in Sector 20 on Sunday night and tried to loot equipment kept there.
The gang allegedly tied up the guard, who was sitting on a chair outside the store holding a gun, and tried to enter the premises. But another guard sleeping inside the store woke up in the meantime and informed police, prompting the gang to flee with the guard’s gun.

A lineman posted at the substation said the robbery attempt took place around 4.30am when an armed guard was deployed outside the store and another was sleeping inside.

Manish Saxena, the SHO of Sector 20 police station, identified the armed guard posted outside the store as Rakesh, a resident of Jewar. “He complained that some unidentified assailants had attacked him. They fled the spot when they saw other guard running towards them.”

Saxena said the gang had attempted to rob equipment kept inside the store room, such as transformers, cables, metallic items, etc as and had tied up the armed guard to the chair with a cloth. Before fleeing, the four snatched the gun Rakesh had with him.
