MYSURU: A delivery boy working for an e-commerce company was robbed of 31 projects cumulatively worth Rs 41,014 that he had kept in his two-wheeler on Saturday.
Girish Babu was delivering a shipment at the Railway Quarters in Vidyaranyapuram around 12.50pm on Saturday when the incident occurred. Having parked his bike, along with the other products, on the ground floor, Girish went to the first floor of an apartment complex to complete a delivery. When he returned, he found that the bag containing the 31 products slated for delivery had been stolen.

Girish subsequently lodged a complaint at the Vidranyapuram police station. While the cops have initiated a probe into the case, lack of CCTV footage from the area has made it difficult for them to track the culprits.

A police officer told TOI that they were investigating the possible involvement of locals in the theft. “However, we don’t know why the delivery boy left the bag containing valuable items in the two-wheeler,” he added.

Despite the lack of clues, police remain hopeful of nabbing the thieves. Police sources said that this was the second incident of a delivery boy being robbed reported in the past week.

On June 2, another delivery boy Rajesh was attacked, while he was on his way to deliver a mobile phone near Nehru Park. He was attacked by two people, who fled with a smartphone worth Rs 18,000. A case has been registered at the Udayagiri police station. Coincidentally, the theft occurred around 1.30pm.
