Monday was a big day for Linn-Mar girls’ soccer standout Abigail Santana.
The sophomore midfielder was named the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division girls’ soccer athlete of the year and the Metro player of the year.
And today, she’s a first-team all-state player.
Santana and teammate Piper Carey, also a sophomore, earned Class 3A first-team honors from the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.

Raegan Dufoe of Center Point-Urbana earned first-team honors in Class 1A.
Santana started all 20 games for the Lions, helping them to last weekend’s state tournament in Des Moines. She scored six goals and collected a team-high 11 assists.
Carey also started all 20 games for Linn-Mar, scoring a team-high 15 goals to go with five assists.
Dufoe, a senior center back, started 19 of the Stormin’ Pointers’ 22 games, scoring four goals and notching seven assists. CPU lost in the state semifinals last Friday.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s Emily Waterhouse and Hannah Mundell were Class 3A second-team picks, along with Cedar Rapids Washington’s KJ Schmidt and Sara Altemeier. Iowa City High’s Sydney Deprenger also earned second-team honors from the IGCA.
Marion’s Mia Laube and Naomi Smith were second-team picks in Class 2A, along with Cedar Rapids Xavier’s Avery Campbell, Paige Diebold and Tana Felton. Emma Rottinghaus of Union Community also earned second-team honors.
In Class 1A, Center Point-Urbana’s Adrianna Katcher and Allison Wooldridge were second-team picks. They were joined on the team by Lauren Gaarde of Iowa City Regina, Madi Barta of Iowa City Liberty and Sarah Seele of West Liberty.
IGCA Coaches of the Year were Chris Allen of Ankeny Centennial, Lauren Bauer of Waverly-Shell Rock and Elizabeth Maus of Davenport Assumption.
