Cyclists injured as accident blocks Story Bridge for hours

The southbound lanes of Brisbane's Story Bridge will remain closed on Monday until about 8pm after an accident where a cyclist allegedly collided with a second cyclist about 5.30pm.

Emergency vehicles occupying the southbound lanes have blocked traffic and are causing delays to traffic in both directions.

The two cyclists were travelling on the bikeway on the southbound side of the Story Bridge.

There is a long delay with traffic coming from Fortitude Valley trying to get across the southbound lanes of the Story Bridge.

One cyclist has been taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with head injuries, Queensland Ambulance Service reported on Monday night.

The second cyclist was still being treated at the scene by ambulance officers as at about 7.10pm.

He declined to be taken to the Mater Hospital, although medical staff are still talking with him.

Police have left the scene after initially speaking with ambulance crews treating the injured cyclists after being called by motorists.
