Central Railway blames NHAI for delaying multi-modal hub

NAGPUR: The Central Railway (CR) has blamed National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for delay in submission of detailed project report (DPR) of multi-modal passenger hub at Ajni. CR wants NHAI to submit a relocation plan for its facilities at Ajni, which has held-up in the absence of the DPR. NHAI needs to acquire 74 acres of CR land for the hub.

Trilok Kothari, assistant divisional railway manager (ADRM), said that NHAI and its consultant Sikka Associates had only submitted the conceptual sketches for the yard and the areas where relocation of railway facilities was to be planned. The detailed dimensional plan was awaited.

“It is not possible to decide relocation of assets on the basis of conceptual plan. Detailed dimensions of vacant plots are needed,” said Kothari.

“We have communicated this to the NHAI through four letters in March and April. However, we are yet to get the detailed dimensional plan. This issue was raised by us in the divisional commissioner’s meeting on May 23. NHAI then agreed to do a survey of our land for the detailed plan,” the railway official said.

According to Kothari, NHAI shared a plan with CR on June 7 but several assets had been left out. “We once again requested NHAI to submit a detailed dimensional plan merged with yard plan showing details of the proposed acquisition of 74 acres and relocation of railway assets so that we can study the feasibility of the relocation,” he told TOI.

NHAI regional officer M Chandrashekhar said that there was a slight delay in submission of detailed dimensional plan as the authority was not aware that it had to prepare the plan. “We are doing the job and the plan will be ready in coming five to six days,” he added.
