NEW DELHI: Three people, including a woman, were arrested on Saturday for killing a man for having an affair with the woman. The accused had stabbed the victim multiple times, wrapped his body in a mattress and dumped it in a jungle, where it was found a fortnight later in a skeletal condition.

The victim, Karan (22), was a resident of Sangam Vihar, and had left his home in search of a job in April. On April 23, he told his father that he would come home for a few days as he had been unwell, but when he didn’t, they repeatedly tried reaching him. After two days of failed attempts, they lodged a missing complaint and started looking for him themselves.

The parents went to one police station after another looking for answers, until they went to Dwarka (south) police station on Thursday. On May 8, a body had been recovered from a jungle, and the parents identified it by Karan’s clothes.

Following clues given by Karan’s parents, cops reached the house of an acquaintance of Karan, and found the accused woman. Her husband, who had left her at the house a week ago, was also tracked and arrested. The accused couple told the cops about the third accused, the woman’s brother-in-law, whose vehicle was used to dispose of the body. The brother-in-law was nabbed from a hideout in west Delhi, cops said.

DCP (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh said that a special team had been investigating the murder case. The team interrogated the accused and was told the woman and Karan had an extra-marital affair. The husband grew suspicious of the two, and one day caught them red handed and thrashed Karan who fled from the house.

The husband then threatened his wife to help kill Karan, and they roped in her brother-in-law in the plan as well.
