Senior bureaucrats, an Italian traveller, three researchers from the Centre for Policy Research — a Delhi-based public policy thinktank, were among others at the 27 th Monks, Caves and Kings (MC&K), the heritage walk at Udayagiri-Khandagiri Jain heritage site. Senior IAS officer Ashok Kumar Meena took part in today’s walk with his friend Anurag Bhushan, who is joint secretary with the ministry of external affairs. The bureaucrats loved that trail. “We had a nice tour both exploring the beautiful heritage site and also enriching our knowledge on the ancient caves, rulers of the Kalingan empire and also knowing the socio-cultural elements of the old era,’’ said Bhushan. The participants shared their views and experiences of participating in the walk and how they came to know about the heritage trail and what prompted them to be a part of this. All the members hailed the arrangement by the Odisha Tourism for such a weekly trail that gives insight about the heritage sites of the state capital.
