A Home Depot employee in Claymont was threatened with a knife Saturday morning when he confronted a man police said stole landscaping power tools from a display.

State police said it happened around 9 a.m. when the man loaded a shopping cart and exited the business without paying. The employee who confronted him told police the thief said he had a knife, which the employee said he saw in the man's pocket.

The man then took the items from the cart and fled on foot toward Society Drive. No one was hurt during the robbery.

Police believe that man also is responsible for a shoplifting that happened around 7 a.m. at a Home Depot in Wilmington, located at 3600 Miller Road.
