Two motorists died when their vehicles collided in the early hours of Sunday morning, Gauteng paramedics have said.

ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall on Sunday said the two vehicles crashed on the R501 in Carletonville, west of Johannesburg.

"At approximately 01:10, ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found both drivers entrapped in their vehicles.

"Upon further assessment, paramedics saw that there was nothing they could do to save the drivers and they were both declared dead on the scene."

Siddall said both men were believed to be in their 30s.

She said the details surrounding the incident were not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
