Hit songs of Nayyar and RD enthrall

NAGPUR: Saturday evening saw music enthusiasts of city gathering at Vidarbha Hindi Sahitya Sammelan to sit back and enjoy their favourite songs from the retro era in the musical concert organized by Karaoke Singer Club. The show was conceptualized by the founder of the club, Praful Shah, a retired government officer.

During the 40th show of the club, Shah said, “We want to give a chance to newcomers to allow the fresh talent to bloom. Four out of 12 singers this time are newbies.”

The level of excitement was raised after each song with the energetic artistes putting their heart and soul in the renditions which struck the chords among the audience. Songs of legendary music composers RD Burman and OP Nayyar were sung during the karaoke night.

The duet on ‘Ude jab jab julfein teri’ received a thunderous applause with Satish Gajbhiye and Shalini Sinha getting in typical Bollywood mood and reminding the casual teasing banter between Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala, not forgetting to flaunt their vocal skills along with that.

The famous medley of ‘Chand mera dil’ from ‘Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi’ was a truly a treat to the ears which included segments of the powerful song ‘Tum kya jano’ originally sung by RD Burman and ‘Milgaya hum sathi’ by Asha Bhosle.

The talented and young Rohini Vaidya won hearts with her peppy solo number on ‘Piyu tu ab toh aja’ which made the music lovers tap their feet and sway along with the rhythm. She took both high and low notes quiet skilfully and was lauded for her exceptional singing.

Dedicating a melodious number to the monsoon showers, Arvind Devghare and Shalini sang the romantic track ‘Rimjhim rimjhim’.

Satyajit Vaidya who has essence of Mohd Rafi in his voice painted a soulful atmosphere with his performance on ‘Pukarta chala hu main.’

The playlist comprised other hit songs like ‘Mera naam chin chin chu’, ‘Pyaar hua chupke se’, ‘Yamma yamma’, ‘Kajra mohabbat wala’, ‘Lekar hum deewana dil’.
