13 deaths in monsoon fury in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Within two weeks after onset, the south west monsoon is showing its full fury in the state. As many as 13 persons lost life in monsoon-related accidents on Saturday and Sunday. Several houses were damaged, forcing people to shift to relief camps.
Around 7 people lost life on Saturday while 6 deaths were reported on Sunday. Thiruvananthapuram witnessed four deaths, Alappuzha three, one each at Pathanamtitta and Kozhikode, and two each at Kannur and Kasargode.

Around 19 houses were fully and 408 houses partially damaged in rain fury.

A camp has been opened at Kadinamkulam to which 10 familes were shifted. Around 22 families were shifted to a relief camp at Ambalappuzha following sea erosion in coastal regions on Alappuzha.

India Meteorological Department said that heavy rainfall and squally wind will continue till Thursday.
