Dembele to Liverpool

The odds on Ousmane Dembele heading to Liverpool have plummeted after Nabil Fekir’s transfer collapsed.

Fekir was expected to join the Reds but a deal with Lyon failed to materialise.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is still seeking playmakers ahead of the new season.

And bookmakers Ladbrokes say Barcelona striker Dembele is now 3/1 to join Liverpool.

Reason for Pope move

Liverpool have emerged as suitors of Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope - and the reason is reportedly all to do with money.

Liverpool know a deal for either Gianluigi Donnarumma or Alisson would set them back around £70m.

And that means Pope - valued at £15m - is a far better option.

Burnley could be open to selling the 26-year-old, with Tom Heaton now recovered from injury.

Liverpool want to sign Nick Pope

Mourinho prioritises new Man Utd striker

Jose Mourinho is unlikely to sign a left-back this summer because he instead wants to prioritise a striker signing.

Mourinho is prepared to put off a signing in that area to stick with Luke Shaw and first-choice Ashley Young.

Now the United boss will target a frontman and they have been looking at West Ham United's Marko Arnautovic and Juventus' Mario Mandzukic, but the club are still exploring options.

Nabil Fekir had chosen Liverpool squad number

Fekir, who still wants to join the Reds, had even chosen what squad number he would wear at Liverpool - only for his dream move to fall through.

That's according to French newspaper l'Equipe and has come out in today's edition of the paper.

A £53million fee had been agreed with Lyon and Fekir had a £140,000-a-week, five-year contract settled on.

He was all set to become the second most expensive player in Liverpool history.

The France international had even given interviews to Liverpool's in-house TV channel LFC TV - but less than 36 hours later, the move was in tatters.
