BENGALURU: Three days after the Electronics City police found a baby abandoned in the bushes near Doddatogaru and a woman constable breastfed her and gave her another chance in life, Kodigehalli police took care of an 8-day-old boy abandoned in an autorickshaw on June 5.

Auto driver A Doddappaiah found the baby lying unattended in his vehicle. “I usually pick up passengers from the Kodigehalli railway station anddrop them toNagavara. On June 5 night, I was on my way to the station at 10pm and found the road near Kodigehalli Gate was being repaired. I parked my auto there and walked to the station to find passengers,” he said.

When he returned 15 minutes later, he found a crowd around his auto. “When I went closer, I saw a baby boy,” he said. He alerted police and kept the baby warm until they arrived.

Police first took the baby to the station where they gave him packaged milk around 11pm. They admitted the boy to a hospital. Doctors said he was in good health.

DCP (North-East) Kala Krishnaswamy said the baby has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee. “I hope he finds a good family who will take care for him,” Doddappaiah said.
