Washington D.C. fans took their wild celebration to the streets after their Capitals won their first ever Stanley Cup championship. USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Capitals captured the Stanley Cup on Thursday in Las Vegas with a 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

The victory ended decades of heartbreak for the Capitals – marking their first title in their 44-year history – and for Washington, which hadn't seen a big four team win a championship since the Redskins won the Super Bowl in January 1992.

It also kick-started a party for Alex Ovechkin and Co. that seemingly has no end.

The party started in the locker room immediately after the game, highlighted by a rousing rendition of Queen's "We are the Champions."

Then it was time to celebrate in Las Vegas.

(Warning: Some videos contain strong language.)

Ovechkin brought the Cup out onstage to a club where Tiesto was performing, and the team kept hockey's top prize out until late into the night.

The Capitals arrived back in Washington on Friday, and somehow the party was really just beginning.

Friday night the team took the Cup to Don Tito, a bar in Arlington, Va. (the team's practice facility is in the same town).

The party took an even bigger jump on Saturday.

The Nationals hosted the Capitals, with Alex Ovechkin throwing out the first (and second) pitch

Ovechkin and company had a great time showing off the Cup to the hometown crowd – and also appeared to enjoy several adult beverages.

Incredibly, the Capitals were among the last people still in the ballpark following the Nationals' 7-5 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Things escalated even further when the Capitals moved to the Georgetown waterfront area.

Members of the team celebrated with fans.

And then took a "swim" in a fountain.

Jakub Vrana and Andre Burakovsky weren't kidding about getting tattoos, apparently.

The Capitals then moved on to Cafe Milano in Washington.

Also at Cafe Milano? Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

While at Cafe Milano the Capitals sang "We are the Champions" yet again (they also sang it at the Nationals game, and again when they were in Georgetown).

And led a chant from the roof.

Before departing, T.J. Oshie let fans lift the Cup.

The Capitals' night still wasn't over, as some members moved on to Saint Yves nightclub.

We will keep this space updated with the Capitals' latest adventures. With the championship parade not until Tuesday, there's sure to be more partying from Washington's sports heroes.
