Congress ​leaders honoured in Australia

LUDHIANA: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), general secretary Pawan Dewan who is on an overseas visit to Australia met MP Bronwyn Halfpenny and Adem Somyurek, former trade and small business minister at Parliament of Victoria, Melbourne.

Satti Grewal, senior vice president Indian Overseas Congress Australia and Sunil Datt Secretary PPCC too were present in the meeting. Both Dewan and Datt were honoured by MP Halfpenny on this occasion. During the meeting Dewan discussed contributions of Punjabis to Australian politics and said that Punjabis are actively participating in politics in countries like Canada, America, England but it is quite a disappointing report for Australia as here Punjabis are taking a backseat for the same.

Dewan also said, “Punjabis have contributed immensely for the development of Australia and that they must use their political rights to fullest. As youngsters from Punjab come to Australia on huge scale for education and Australia must invest in many more sectors like this” Sunny Dutt and Praveen Gulati were also present during the occasion.
