As part of `Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and Group Editorial Director of India Today Raj Chengappa in Lucknow on Saturday.

On the other hand, Union minister of state for External Affairs, General (Retd) V K Singh met Bhojpuri singer Heera Lal Yadav and his family in Varanasi.

Sanjay Dutt met the CM at his official residence at Kalidas Marg on Saturday morning and was there for about 20 minutes. The CM also gifted a booklet on the fourth anniversary of NDA rule at the Centre to the actor.

During the meeting, Dutt also asked Yogi if he watched movies or not to which the CM flashed a coy smile. Yogi asked Sanjay Dutt to support the BJP in the coming 2019 Lok Sabha polls. In 2009, Dutt was named as the Samajwadi Party candidate to contest the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, but the Supreme Court did not allow him to contest.

Launched in May this year, ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative was devised to generate awareness about Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s achievements in the last four years.

Dutt has been in Lucknow for the last one week in connection with the shooting of a Hindi film ‘;Prasthanam’- a remake of a Telugu film. In the film, Dutt is playing the role of a politician while Manisha Koirala is playing the role of his wife. Other actors in the film are Jackie Shroff and Chunkey Pandey.
