Four women mowed down by train on railway bridge

Four women died today after they were run over by a goods train on a railway bridge on the in Chhattisgarh's district, police said.

The incident occurred when six women were walking down the bridge across the river on Kirandul-Visakhapatnam rail route to reach Karli village, a said.

"While walking down the bridge, the women spotted a goods train coming from the opposite direction. While two of them ran to safety, four others were mowed down by the train," he said.

The deceased are identified as Jamuli, Rambati, Sukko, and Soni (all 60 years of age), he said.

On receiving information about the incident, a police team was rushed to the spot, he said, adding that the bodies have been sent for postmortem.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on, he added.
