JEE Advanced result 2018: Attempting mock tests helped Meenal Parakh top girls’ category

Meenal Parakh from Rajasthan’s Kota did not expect to get All-India Rank 6 to emerge the topper in the girls’ category in the JEE Advanced 2018 examination, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

Meenal, who scored 318 marks out of 360, said she practised mock tests frequently to prepare for the exam.

“The success mantra for me in the JEE Advanced 2018 was to focus on daily work in the best possible manner,” the daughter of Doordarshan engineer Gulab Chand Parakh and homemaker Manju Parakh added.

Making notes of classroom study, regular revision and hard work were also the keys to her success, the student of Kota’s Vibrant Academy added. The 17-year-old likes playing badminton and watching television.

Pranav Goyal from Panchkula in Haryana topped the JEE Advanced 2018, the examination held for admissions to the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country. He scored 337 marks.

Sahil Jain from Bundi in Rajasthan ranked second and Kailash Gupta from Delhi got the third position.

Over 1,50,000 students across the country appeared for the first-ever completely computer-based Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) held on May 20. As many as 1,55,091 candidates appeared for the second paper.

There are 11,279 seats on offer this year.
