Glickenhaus Breathes Life Into The 1970 Ferrari Modulo Concept

Four years ago, James Glickenhaus purchased the famed Pininfarina Ferrari 512S Modulo. Now, in mid-2018, the futuristic concept car has been made operational and hit the road for the very first time.

Filmed with many of its body panels removed, the Modulo looks like it’s from another planet, despite being first built and displayed in 1970 at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Modulo features an intriguing wedge shape and a roof which slides forward to allow passengers to enter the car. Additionally, the concept has intriguing wheel covers, expansive side windows and an engine cover with 24 large holes in it.

When first unveiled, the concept was fitted with a 5.0-liter V12 delivering 550 hp and allowing for a reported 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 3.1 seconds and a 220 mph (354 km/h) top speed. Remarkably, this original engine is still featured and has been expertly restored by a team in Europe. When the project is complete, all of the body panels will be reinstalled and the car should turn heads everywhere it goes.

Glickenhaus has been more than willing to display his impressive fleet of cars over the years, and we expect no different with the Modulo. Here’s hoping we see it completed, stunning crowds at future auto shows around the world.
