National and international
basketball players come together to take part in the 3BL Basketball League that kicked off at Noida's GIP Mall
on Saturday. This was the first time a FIBA-recognised basketball league was being organised in India. The two-day tournament saw the participation of 48 players from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh,
Bhutan, Maldives and
Sri Lanka. The league also saw the participation of renowned players like Palpreet Singh Brar and international basketball sensations like Inderbir Singh Gill, Leandro Sauza Lima and more.
While addressing the audience,
Pooja Bhatt, owner of the Delhi team, said, "It was a great opening ceremony and I am delighted to be part of it. I want to thank people from the audience for cheering for the teams." Talking about the basketball scene in India, she said, "We need to change now and make way for the big boys in a real sense. We need to change our perspective and we need to catch up, because the world is changing at a fast pace.
Bollywood and
cricket shouldn't be the only source of entertainment, and I think basketball should be something to look at."
