The Sharjah Customs sleuths seized more than 30 kilograms of drugs and arrested those trying to smuggle them at the Sharjah International Airport.
The Sharjah Police said the drugs - 30kg of cannabis and 10 grams of marijuana - were being smuggled through shipments from Asian countries. The narcotics were packaged by 'experts' and could have gone undetected.
The nabbed smugglers have been referred to the Sharjah public prosecution.
Lt Col Majid Al-Asem, director of Narcotics Control Department, said cooperation between the Sharjah Police and Sharjah Customs has prevented huge quanitities of drugs being smuggled through seaports, airports and borders.
