Carmen, a year-old Dogue de Bordeaux mix, arrived at the Beaver County Humane Society in Center Township as a stray.
Because of trust issues, people had been trying to catch her for months. At first, Carmen was afraid in the shelter, but staff has helped her learn to trust again and overcome shyness.
She’s loving and playful but would do best in a home with adults only. Potentially, Carmen could go to a home with other dogs, but would have to meet them first, but no cats.
Her $80 adoption fee includes vaccinations, health exams, flea treatment and preventive and spaying. An identification microchip also has been implanted.
Shelter hours at 3394 Brodhead Road are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; closed Sunday, Monday and holidays. For more information, call 724-775-5801.
