Vadodara: A retired private security officer lost cash and gold ornaments to a ‘godman’ who tricked him when he was returning to his home in Makarpura after buying some groceries.
Complainant Chhagan Rohit told police that a car stopped near him at Maneja Crossing. The ‘godman’ who was sitting beside the driver asked him address of a temple in Karelibaug. After Rohit guided them, the ‘godman’ gave a note of Rs 10 and asked him to keep it in his wallet immediately.
When Rohit took out his wallet which had Rs 10,000 cash, the accused asked for it to see it. Meanwhile, another accused who was sitting on the back seat indulged in conversation with Rohit. After the ‘godman’ returned the wallet, he touched a gold chain and a ring worth Rs 42,000 which Rohit was wearing and blessed him.
Before Rohit could understand anything, the accused fled from there in their car. After sometime, Rohit realized that he had lost his gold chain and ring. He then checked his wallet and found that the cash too was missing. Rohit then called the police control room and informed them about the incident.
Rohit told the police that he did not notice the registration number of the car. He used to work as security supervisor in SSG Hospital, but retired early due to health issues.
