Surat: Two old women were rescued by villagers at Tithal beach of Valsad district after they were swept away by a tidal wave on Sunday. The women got immediate medical assistance from 108 EMRI ambulance service and admitted to a hospital.
The women taking a bath in seawater were flung towards the rocky shore by a tidal wave several times within a span of a few minutes. The incident was captured on a mobile phone. The video went viral in the region.

Devi Desai (75) and Jaya Thakore (60), were at the Tithal beach to take a dip in the seawater to mark the occasion of Agiyaras — the 11th day of holy month of Purusottam. Some locals were able to pull them out when the tidal wave flung them towards the rocky shore.

“The women were pulled out by locals who were standing on the rocks. It was a miraculous survival for the two women who were flung by the tidal wave towards the rocks,” an eyewitness said.

A team of 108 EMRI ambulance service present at the beach attended to the women who had swallowed good amount of water. “The women were given immediate treatment by Mansi Patel and Pradip Patel of 108 EMRI ambulance. They were later admitted to Civil Hospital and are out of danger now,” said an officer of 108 EMRI ambulance service.

The women are residents of Kachigam of Valsad and had arrived at Tithal beach with a relative in a car.
