Govt officials are demanding bribe from farmers : Shivpal Singh Yadav

Even as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suspended District Magistrate of Fatehpur Kumar Prashant for non purchase of wheat by government agencies two days back, another corruption issue surfcaed when Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav alleged that government officials of wheat purchase centres in Etawah and Auraiyya were demanding Rs 200 per quintal as bribe from farmers.

The SP MLA from Jaswantnagar in Etawah shot off a letter to the Chief Minister on Saturday asking him to look into corruption by government officials at wheat purchase centres in Etawah and Auraiyya. 

The letter, which was also released to the media, said that officers of Agriculture, marketing and others agencies involved in wheat procurement joined hands to extort money from farmers and were asking for Rs 200 per quintal as bribe.

“Farmers are harassed by these officials if they refuse to pay bribe. Such practices have created problem for the farmers. who are already facing severe hike in prices of agricultural inputs,” Yadav wrote.

Earlier, Yogi had suspended DM of Fatehpur Kumar Prashant on Thursday along with six other officials for disrupting wheat purchase in the district.
