Formation of GSHEC announced

Vadodara: After much delay, controversies and opposition, the state government has announced the formation of the Gujarat State Higher Education Council (GSHEC).
Through a notification issued by the state education department, members of the governing council and executive committee have been appointed by the state government. There are five vice-chancellors (VCs) of state universities, one provost of a private university, two directors of institutes and three principals who have been appointed on the governing council.

Eight VCs, one provost and one director have been appointed in the committee. VCs of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Shree Govind Guru University, Godhra, Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University, Junagadh, Shamji Krushna Verma Kachchh University and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad have been appointed in the council.

Principals of L D Engineering College, Gandhinagar Commerce College and Ahmedabad Arts College have also been appointed for a period of three years.

The committee includes VCs of Gujarat University, Sardar Patel University, M S University, Gujarat Technological University, Children’s University, Indian Institute of Teachers Education, Saurashtra University and Bhavnagar University. tnn
