Mumbai fire: Two firefighters injured in massive blaze at Patel Chambers

The fire reached level IV at around 6 am, and by 6:43 am, the south side of the building collapsed injuring two minor firefighters operating the turntable ladder. A fire engine and a special appliance were also damaged due to the sudden collapse.

A massive fire broke out at Kothari building in Patel Chambers in Mumbai early on Saturday morning. Eighteen firefighters were rushed to spot after receiving a call at around 4:16 am. The cause of the fire, which broke out on the ground floor of the five-storey building, is yet to be ascertained. The building has been vacant for four to five years now.

Firefighters, who were deployed with a total 11 lines of 16 Motor pumps and 11 water tankers and 3 special appliances, are still trying to put out the flames.

The fire reached level IV at around 6 am, and by 6.43 am, the south side of the building collapsed injuring two minor firefighters who were operating the turntable ladder. A fire engine and a special appliance were also damaged due to the sudden collapse. The injured were sent to Nair hospital for treatment. No casualties have been reported yet.
