THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 45-year-woman suffered a serious
stab injury after she was waylaid by her ex-lover at Pachalloor on Friday night. The woman has been admitted to the
Medical College Hospital (MCH) here. The police took the suspect into custody soon after the incident was reported. He was identified as Santhosh of Vettucaud.
According to the police, the crime took place around 10pm at the woman's residence near
Chudukad Temple at Thoppadi near Pachalloor under Thiruvallam police station limits. The suspect waited with a knife near her residence and when she came out of the house, he pounced on her and stabbed her on the back. Her husband and neighbours rushed to the spot hearing her screams and managed to apprehend the suspect. She was immediately rushed to the MCH.
The suspect, Santhosh, told the police that he was in an affair with the woman, who was mother of two, for nearly four years. Her husband worked in a Gulf country and it was when he was abroad, she got into an affair with the suspect.
The two lived together for one year. But, recently her husband returned from abroad following which she reconciled with him. About ten days ago, she left Santhosh to go and live with her husband and children. This infuriated him and so he planned to harm her..
Hospital sources said that her condition was stable. The police are yet to record the arrest of the suspect.
