L-G celebrates her birthday with members of the public

The Raj Nivas was thrown open to the public on Saturday on the occasion of Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi’s 69th birthday.

Ms. Bedi cut a cake in the presence of senior officials such as Chief Secretary Ashwani Kumar, Director General of Police S.K. Gautam, and officials of the Raj Nivas. Ms. Bedi was greeted by the public from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. People from all walks of life, including former elected representatives, retired officers, and schoolchildren greeted her.

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, Speaker V. Vaithilingam and Ministers A. Namassivayam, M. Kandasamy and M.O.H.F. Shahjahan greeted her on the occasion. AINRC chief N. Rangasamy too called on her.

Ms. Bedi told reporters that she found Puducherry a fantastic place to achieve everything easily and said that it was her commitment, along with that of officials, to make Puducherry prosperous. “I have enjoyed the trust and energy of the people. I would like to give back to the people of Puducherry the maximum,” she added.

Karaikal visit

Later, the Lt. Governor left for Karaikal for the interaction with farmers and parents-teachers’ association on women’s security through responsible parenting of boys.

District Collector Satyendra Singh Dursawat made a presentation on “water management” for Karaikal.
