Assam govt gives top importance to empowerment of women: CM

Sarbananda today said the gives utmost importance to empowerment of women to make them economically self-reliant.

"The has taken up several projects aimed at empowering women and making them vital partners of the development process," he said at the Mahila Samaroh, organized by the at Mirza in district.

Education plays a significant role in boosting the skills and abilities of women and the gives priority to education of women, said.

He urged women to join hands with the government in its initiatives in the education sector and requested them to take the role of conscious citizens in making moral, spiritual and technical education popular amongst the youth.

The government is working without any discrimination to spread education in the society and would set up nine women colleges in minority dominated areas of the state, said.

He also called on women to work for spreading awareness against superstition and also promote peace, harmony, unity and brotherhood in the society.

The also urged women to be vigilant so that no evil force could destabilize the society and affirmed the government's resolve to not allowing any such forces to negatively impact the society.

Sonowal urged the women SHGs to prudently utilize the financial assistance provided to them and announced that the best performing three SHGs would be awarded rupees five lakh, three lakh and two lakh respectively.
