Ex-Goa Congress MP Shantaram Naik dead, Rahul condoles

Former and senior passed away on Saturday after suffering a massive heart attack, a said. He was 72.

"He complained of chest pain, after which he was rushed to a private hospital in Margao town. But he was declared brought dead," Chodankar said.

Naik's last rites would take place on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. at his native village Cuncolim in south Goa, he added.

He was also instrumental in the passage of the bill that led to Goa's statehood on May 30, 1987.
