Andrew Kremer, 68, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, following a brief battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may register after 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corps Honors Team. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate the services.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Joanne; two children, Jesse (Becky) Kremer and Stacy (Tony) White; five grandchildren, Taylor, McKenna, Alex and Olivia Kremer and Joshua White; and great-grandson, Sawyer Schlotterbeck. Also surviving are four brothers, Edwynn Kremer, Steve (Mary) Kremer and Robbie Kremer, all of Monticello, and Dave Kremer, Onslow; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Aschtgen; brother and sisters-in-law, Paul Aschtgen and Cindy (Steve) Stoll, all of Cascade, and Herb (Jane) Aschtgen, Springfield, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Elmer.
Andrew James Kremer was born Dec. 27, 1949, at the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Nicholas and Iona Harms Kremer. He received his early education in the Temple Hill and Aquin Schools and graduated from the Sacred Heart High School, Monticello in 1968. Andy served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Andy married Joanne Aschtgen at St. Martins Catholic Church, Cascade, on July 8, 1972. Andy worked at the Monticello Feed Mill, John Kremer Construction in Cascade, and John Deere and McNamer Construction, both in Dubuque. He retired from Pearson Wall Systems, Cedar Rapids, in 2014. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 308.
Andy enjoyed woodworking and could build anything. He enjoyed doing projects for family and friends. Andy was an avid fisherman, a die-hard Rams fan and enjoyed target shooting. He was a member of the Monticello Conservation Club and the Cascade Sportsman Club.
He was a man of few words. He was humble, kind and loved. He gave so much without asking for anything. We loved him and he was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed.
