Noida: An 18-year-old girl who had been reported
missing from her Noida home last week has been traced to Chandigarh, where she had gone to “find a job”.
Manisha Shah was last seen outside a cyber café near her home on Wednesday last week. The girl had been thrown off the terrace of her first-floor house last year by two youths who had misbehaved with her earlier. She was in coma for five months since the accident.
Police said Manisha’s family had received a call from a woman on Wednesday evening informing them that the girl was in Chandigarh and wanted to talk to them. The girl’s mother, Anita, said her daughter had told her that after leaving the cyber café in Hoshiarpur in Sector 51, she had taken a metro to Delhi railway station.
“She sat in a train to Chandigarh and remained in the city for almost six days. She said she wanted to find a job and prove a point to the two youths who had pushed her from the terrace last year. They ruined her life,” Anita said.
After staying in parks for a few days, Manisha met a woman who gave her food and helped her contact her family in Noida. “The woman told me Manisha was there with her. She said she was in Chandigarh. We immediately informed our relatives in Karnal and they rushed to get her back,” Anita said.
Manisha was dropped to a local police station. She was finally brought back to Noida on Thursday.
